Acuerdo sobre medidas del Estado rector del puerto (AMERP)

El Acuerdo sobre medidas del Estado rector del puerto es el primer tratado internacional de carácter vinculante centrado específicamente en la pesca ilegal, no declarada y no reglamentada (pesca INDNR). Su objetivo es prevenir, desalentar y eliminar la pesca INDNR impidiendo que los buques que la practican utilicen puertos para desembarcar sus capturas. De esta manera, el AMERP reduce los incentivos para que estos buques continúen operando y, además, frena el flujo de productos pesqueros derivados de la pesca INDNR hacia los mercados nacionales e internacionales. La aplicación eficaz del AMERP contribuye, en última instancia, a la conservación a largo plazo y el uso sostenible de los recursos marinos vivos y sus ecosistemas. Las disposiciones del AMERP se aplican a los buques de pesca que soliciten entrar a un puerto designado de un Estado que sea diferente de su Estado del pabellón.
