Objective / Goal

The ApiClimat initiative aims to sustainably strengthen the resilience of beekeepers from the CAC/Miel cooperative in Casamance through an integrated approach that combines climate change adaptation, technical capacity development, and economic enhancement of the beekeeping value chain.
Building on the achievements of the CasaMiel project, ApiClimat scales up the impacts generated during the first phase of the SAGA Project.

Activities
  1. Participatory diagnostic with the Economic Interest Groups (GIE) to identify training needs.
  2. Training of facilitators and season-long support for new GIE members, focusing on the production of quality honey, including mangrove honey, bee health, and the use of modern equipment.
  3. Refresher training for members of existing GIEs, based on the needs identified during the diagnostic phase.
  4. Integration of climate information into beekeeping practices, with training content tailored to local ecosystems and informed by scientific studies.
  5. Strengthening cooperative governance, through capacity-building for elected leaders and managers on value chain development and honey marketing.
  6. Ecological restoration actions, including the planting of 29 hectares of melliferous trees and the restoration of 15 hectares of mangroves, carried out in partnership with local communities.
